What is a sleep?
Sleep is the essential to every living thing on earth.
Everyone gets sleepy all of a sudden without any reason.
It is curious that even if people sleep a lot, sometimes they have a desire to sleep more and fall into a doze without having any fatigue. It made me fall deeper into curiosity of this complex status and I searched several theory and research. I will introduce interesting stories, scientific researches, wrong common ideas about sleeping and the ways for keeping sound sleep.
What is a sleep?
Do you know who this man is?
He is Paul McCartney, who is one of the members of the Beatles. From the Beatles songs, there is a song called, ‘Yesterday’ is a representative excellent song in Pop history. But this song has a hidden story behind. One day, Paul composed and slept for a moment. He heard a fine music ensemble performance in his dream. He awoke with condition which is filled with melody and he played that melody with piano.
He was surprised how he knew the melody of this song and he denied and didn’t believe that he composed the song. He thought that it might be the other song. After searching all the other songs, he realized that he composed the song. But he didn’t make lyrics but called this song ‘Scrambled Egg’ after.
Stage of sleep
The sleep can be divided in two,
‘REM sleep’ and ‘Non-REM sleep.’
The Non-REM sleep is composed of
4 stage.
We don’t sleep continuously from 1 to
4 stages but there are cycle which
rising and falling as this picture.
Stage of sleep
1st stage is called ‘transition sleep’.
In this stage, our thoughts are floating and wandering around.
Also we can be awake easily in this stage.
Stage of sleep
2nd stage consists 50% of the whole sleep.
But this role isn’t discovered yet.
