Priceline.com is an Internet-based travel service that offers leisure airline tickets, hotel rooms, rental cars, vacation packages and cruises. Also Priceline.com offers a personal finance service that markets home mortgages, refinancing and home equity loans through an independent licensee. In addition to its U.S. operations, Priceline.com owns Priceline.co.uk, a London-based online travel service and is an investor in an Asian travel service, also called Priceline.com, which operates in Hong Kong and Singapore (Priceline, 2006).
Inspiration to the project
What inspired us to choose Priceline.com to be our group case presentation are its high technology, advanced innovation, creation, intelligence and strategic marketing that can bring customer satisfaction. Customer satisfaction is considered a major issue for doing businesses; therefore, we should learn how to enhance their satisfaction of the services. While conducting this group assignment, we learned many aspects about Priceline.com such as its marketing strategies, its problems, its operations and its future business directions. All these issues can really happen in our workplace. We hope this information will be beneficial to the readers who are interested in internet marketing business.

According to Priceline (2006), Priceline.com, found in 1997, provides customers with 4 types of services which are travel services, personal financial services, automotive services and telecommunications services. The travel services can be further categorized into airline tickets, hotel rooms, rental cars and cruises. Priceline.com Incorporated has pioneered a unique e-commerce pricing system known as a demand collection system that enables consumers to use the internet to save money on a wide range of products and services while enabling sellers to generate incremental revenue. Priceline.com would like to name itself the king of online travel. At Priceline.com`s web site, buyers can "name their own price" for airline tickets, home financing, hotel rooms, rental cars, cruises, and vacation packages. In addition to its Name Your Own Price travel services, Priceline.com also markets fixed-price, retail travel products through internet travel sites Lowestfare.com, Activehotels.com and Travelweb.com. With its patented business model, priceline.com generates about 99% of its revenue from travel-related services.
