1. 설계 파악
The production of L-malic acid (used in medicines and food additives) was produced over immobilized cells of Bacillus flavum MA-3. Consider the reaction in the presence of fumarase served as a catalyst below:
HOOCCH=CHCOOH+H_2 O →HOOCH_3 CH(OH)COOH
The following rate law waws obtained for the rate of formation of product:
-r_s=(V_max C_S)/(K_m+C_S ) (1-C_P/(C_P^* )) C_C
Where V_max=76mol/L day, K_m=0.048 mol/L, C_P^*=1.69 mol/L, C_C=1
Constraint) The require conversion of fumaric acid is 99%
1) Design a reactor to process 100 m3 /day of 2 mol/L of fumaric acid.
2) How much of product can be produced?
3) Determine which reactor (batch, packed bed reactor, CSTR
etc.) would be the best choice to successfully carry out this task.
