Our group used the Aspen Plus program to do the separation process design tasks.
In the design process, two methods were used. In the first method, ethanol and ethyl acetate azeotropic mixture having 0.5 mole fractions were reacted with acetic acid to convert ethanol into ethyl acetate and water, followed by distillation to obtain pure ethyl acetate.
By applying the Aspen Plus program in this way, we were able to obtain 99% purity of high purity ethyl acetate. Economics also came out pretty good.
Another method is to mix the ethanol-ethyl acetate azeotropic mixture with the corresponding materials and then to change the boiling point of ethanol and ethyl acetate to obtain high purity ethyl acetate.
This method was able to use radfrac, so it was easy to measure the data, but it was very difficult to get the result and placed it in position 3.
This process focused on pressure changes, and it was found that much more com- ponents were readily available in the high-pressure process.
