Abstract
Bis(cyclopentadienyl)iron, also known as ferrocene, was synthesized using FeCl2·4H2O and cyclopentadiene, and the yield was measured to be 30%. Some of the synthesized ferrocene was recrystallized through sublimation to obtain the single crystal of the metallocene. In addition, Friedel-Crafts acylation was performed on the synthesized ferrocene to synthesize acetyl ferrocene, and the yield was measured to be 17%. Through the formation of acetyl ferrocene, the aromaticity of ferrocene was confirmed. The purity of each compound was analyzed by 1H-NMR and IR spectra.
