1) Low frequency -> PIN diode는 일반적인 PN diode와 똑같이 동작한다
2) high frequency -> PIN diode는 저항(resistor)처럼 동작한다. 저항 값은 diode를 흐르는 직류 전류(DC bias current)에 반비례한다.
직류 전류를 적당히 조절 -> '가변저항(variable resistor)'처럼 사용
'RF 스위치', '감쇄기(attenuator)', 'phase shifter' 등에 주로 사용
