Every country has its national image. It includes not only their self-image, but also the image of other countries to have of it. We can explain the country through the typical image that distinguish it from other countries. Italy also has their images. Those images have a lot to do with their own social backgrounds but also reflect other country’s backgrounds which has their image of Italy. In the 19th century of British, there is the beginning of middle-class tourism to Italy and it became increasingly popular. Based on their cultural background, they might have their image of Italy while travelling, and there are several literatures whose background is on Italy.
Edward Morgan Forster’s novel, ‘A room with a view’ is one of those literatures whose plot takes place at Florence of Italy, and it reflects the Italy in the British view. He wrote the novel and the reflection of British tourists at the same time.
