본문내용
IntroductionThe purpose of this community assessment is to identify health issues in males aged 65 and over in Australia, primarily in relation to coronary heart disease. Accordingly, the term 'elderly' in this report will be used to refer to people over 65 years of age. It will gather and analyse the demographic data of the target population and explore their health issues, as well as the social determinants of health they face in order to identify and prioritise their needs. The assessment of the socioeconomic and demographic impact on the health of the target group will help to develop health promotion in order to empower elderly people to increase control over their health and achieve better quality of life.
Demographics
According to the 2016 census, the population of people aged 65 and over was estimated at 3.6 million, up from 3 million in 2011, and the percentage of the total Australian population in the same period also increased by 1.7% to 15.8% (Australian Bureau of Statistics [ABS], 2018).
