2. DISCUSSION

For example, as shown in the graph above, it is possible to design a locus having the same overshoot with a faster response speed that is impossible on the existing locus. This condition must be designed by inserting an auxiliary system with pole and zero points beyond the desired point B, which can not be obtained by simply changing the gain K of the root locus. These compensators are used not only to improve transient response such as settling time or overshoot, but also to improve the characteristics of steady-state errors. At this time, the larger the gain, the less steady-state error, but the larger the percentage overshoot.
