On the one hand, that is nothing new in the fact that our age of high technology, refined food, and sedentary life is directly related to the increasing number of obese people. However, given the disappointing statistics – the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) revealed that compared with 1988-1994, the number of overweight children and adolescents in 1999-2000 increased by 16 %, and by the year 2018, 47.5 % of the US population will be obese (qtd. in Indiana State Nurses Association, “Obesity”)
