1. Mouse embryonic stem cells (mESCs)
• mESCs were isolated from in vitro proliferation of the ICM (E3.5 to 4.5 days blastocysts)
• mESCs are maintained undifferentiated under specific culture conditions on MEFs
• AP activity, telomerase activity, surface marker (SSEA-1, ECMA7, EMA1, etc), absence of LIF
• Self-renew without alteration of phenotype and karyotype
• Differentiate in vitro into many cell types
• Germline chimeras
2. Epiblast stem cells (EpiSCs)
• At the morphological level, more similar to the hESCs
• No chimeras
