1. Explain the differences between GC (gas chromatography) and LC (liquid chromatography).
GC and LC are techniques used in analytical chemistry for separation of individual components from a mixture and are used in many different applications. For example, application areas of GC include petroleum and petrochemical industry, flavors and fragrances. In contrast, application areas of LC include foods and pharmaceuticals. The followings are different aspects to compare between GC and LC:

In this investigation, the main objective was to use column chromatography to purify aniline from aniline/triphenylphosphine mixture and HPLC was used to measure the purity of aniline collected. As a result, % yield of aniline was calculated to be 71.520% whereas aniline purity was measured to be 79.332%. The HPLC chromatogram results for our group showed that two peaks were detected, while only one peak for aniline was detected in other group.
