본문내용
FGFs make a family of polypeptide that are found in organisms ranging from nematodes to humans. In vertebrates, the 22 members of the FGF family range in molecular mass from 17 to 34 kDa and share 13-71% amino acid identity. During embryonic development, FGFs have diverse roles in regulating cell proliferation, migration and differentiation. A subset of the FGF family, expressed in adult tissue, is important for neuronal signal transduction in the central and peripheral nervous systems.

-Although derived from the ectoderm, the neural crest has sometimes been called the fourth germ layer because of its importance.
-The neural crest cells originate at the dorsalmost region of the neural tube. -Transplantation experiments wherein a quail neural plate is grafted into a chick non-neural ectoderm have shown that juxtaposing these tissues induces the formation of neural crest cells, and that both the prospective neural plate and the prospective epidermis contribute to the neural crest.
