Introduction - Overview of Facebook Inc.Facebook Inc. is a privately owned American multinational internet company which operates the popular internet social networking site facebook. The company is headquartered in California but has key operational offices in other parts of North America, Europe and Asia. The company was founded by Mark Zuckerberg through the launch of its social networking site facebook in 2004, initially within Harvard but it was soon extended to other colleges in Boston and then to all Universities in the USA (Phillips 2007). The site address (facebook.com) was officially purchased in 2005 and by 2006 the network had expanded and anyone with a personal email account could join. The site is free to join and gives users the opportunity to share information and connect with friends, join groups online and play games with the condition that the user must be 13 years or older.
