I`d like to introduce a history novel, Namhansansung, written by Kim Hun.
First of all, the writer, Kim Hun, was a newspaper reporter, an editor, and he is a vice-chief of social department at Hankyoreh newspaper. His writing style is unusual and critical. His style reminds me of that of Hemingway. Such an eminent writing style is attractive enough to stir up readers thoughts.
His writing style is plain, short but implicative without special ornament in the context, his work expresses a kind of absurdity; the saddest and the most grief. Do we have only honorable days in our 5000-year-old history? If we have had peaceful days, we have also had difficult days. If we have had victorious days, we have also had dishonorable days.
The motive of this novel comes from the war called Pyungzahoran. Pyungzahoran was one of the most humiliating invasions by Chinese Ch`ing dynasty. At that time, Ch`ing was a waxing moon while Ming was a waning moon.
