It was extremely shock that I am really weak at horror, cruel movie. Although professor had warn cruelty of this movie before, I was so confused. But, in this movie, we can catch that interest things about materialism and masculinism.
In fore part, I think that Patrick Bateman and other people are Yuppies. Yuppies is new word in 1980s. This word is a compound word that means `Young`, `Urban` and `Professional`. In 1980s, Korea was suffered from dictatorial government. But in U.S.A., there was economic boom that American were enjoying full of wealth. In this social background, many Yuppies were appeared. They have rich parents, high-level university`s diploma, professional job and high salary. In appearance, they are perfect that anything to want more. Patrick Bateman is a great man within the merger and get firm he works for, and his life is overflowing with the accoutrements of yuppie success – the appliances and wardrobe and such relatively new goodies as CDs and mobile phones. He and his buddies are sitting on top of the world: their lives mostly consist of scoring reservations in New York’s swanky restaurants, where they keep their eyes peeled for the Trumps.
