The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of group art therapy on self-resilience of children
without disability who have siblings with disability. The subjects were elementary 4th-6th grade students
without disability who have siblings with disability in A city. 20 children without disability who have
siblings with disability were selected among those who were requested by their parents because of low
self-resilience. The subjects were divided into two groups and each were composed of 10 members assigned
randomly. The two groups were separated as an experimental group and a control group. The group art
therapy was conducted twice a week for 70 minutes per one session, for 12times from February to April
2012. The Self-resilience questionnaires used in this study were developed by Park eun-hee (1996) based on
O'connell-Higgins(1983), Block and Kremen(1996) study, and revised by Kim soon-bock (2007) into Likert 5
score scale with the 40 items by Park eun-hee(1996). For the verification of the effects of group art
therapy on self-resilience, descriptive statistics and one way ANOVA by SPSS 18.0 program were used.
Consequently, group art therapy showed an effect on improving the self-resilience and sub-factors
(interpersonal relations, viability, feeling control, curiosity, optimism) of children without disability who have
sibling with disability.
