컴퓨터와 소프트웨어의 교육적 활용은 학교 수업에서 매우 제한되어 있는 가운데 컴퓨터 기반의 복합적이고 통합된 하드웨어와 소프트웨어 운영 시스템인 통합학습체제는 개별 학습자의 능력과 속도에 맞추어 학습 내용을 제시하고 학습자의 반응에 대한 피이드백과 학습 기록 등 개별 학생의 학습을 관리하는 수업을 가능하게 한다. 이 글에서는 통합학습체제의 개념과 특징, 역사적 이론적인 배경이 될 수 있는 개별화된 완전 학습과 컴퓨터기반학습의 원리들을 살펴보고, 통합학습체제의 적용 사례와 함께 통합학습체제를 운영하는 데 고려할 조건 및 효과적인 운영요소들을 살펴봄으로써 전자화된 개별학습체제의 한 형태로서 통합학습체제 접근이 갖는 의미와 적용 방법을 고려하였다. 전자도서 및 원격 교육의 발달과 함께 미래의 학교에서 교과과정에 컴퓨터를 통합한 학습 시스템은 효과적인 교수 방법은 물론 학습 환경을 재조직하는 데 중요한 역할을 할 것이다.

영어 초록

Whereas the educational use of computers and software in school instruction has been very limited, the integrated learning systems(ILSs) make possible to present lessons appropriate for individual student' space and to provide immediate feedback according to student's response, and to allow teachers to monitor students through the record of students' achievement and pace. In short, ILSs are complex, integrated hardware and software management systems using computer-based instruction. Recently, ILSs are being enriched by more user-interface which graphically portrays the school environment and borderson virtualreality, and technical supports such as high-tech visuals, presentation system, and student response system.This article examined the definition and characteristics of ILSs, and the historical and theoretical backgrounds including individualized mastery learning principles and computer based learning. The article also investigated the effective and efficient operating methods of ILSs intermsof the basic conditions of operating in school curriculum, the alternate theory to solve problems in applying ILSs effectively in computer labsor classrooms, and how to adapt ILS instructional models to overcome the deficits of excessive individualization using a balance of individualization and whole class computer activities and various mixture of cooperative learning. Additionally, in order to see the implementation of ILSs, the results of pilot studies of NCET on ILSs evaluation were summarized. Finally, the implication of ILSs was discussed as a form of electronic learning system along with electronic learning and distance education. In the future, it is expected that the integrating computers with in school curriculum will playa moreimportant role and restructure school learning environment.
