Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out about the influence SQ3R reading training a training relaged with a reaking skill which is a lower-ranking learning skill, has on the reaking habit adn learning perfrormance. For this, the following specific questions of study were set.
First, what is the result of the reading habit of the group who had the SQ3R reading training? Second, what is the result of the learning perfromance of the group who had the same trainign? The subjects were arranged in one group in a unit of 30 with them classified into 10 according to learning capacity. This group had the reading training 12 times over 6 weeks, each time composed of 40 minutes. The comparing group were told to read the same materials in the same time of their own accord.
The textbooks of the sixth grade Korean ahd sociology wer the sources of the training materials, 4 and 8 each, which were not adapted at all, The SQ3R reading training consists of 5 levels- survey, question, read, recite, review - and it has been proved that the training is effective, as a result of testin the reading habit and learning performance.
The conclusion of this study is as follows. First, the group with the SQ3R reading training made a better score in the reading habit. Accordingly, it is considered that this trainig can make effective improvement of a reading habit. Second, reading comprehension ability can develop with this trainig in that it made the learning performance in the above two subjects better.
