<황새결송>은 두 가지의 이야기기가 전개되는 복합적인 구성을 띠고 있어 줄거리의 내용도 길다. 패악무도한 친척의 부당한 요구를 참지 못하던 부자가 서울에 올라가 형조에 친척을 고발한다. 그러나 친척일가에서 형조의 사람들에게 뇌물을 주어 사건의 진행을 방해하여 결국 부자는 패소하게 된다. 이에 부자가 판결의 부당함을 전해오는 우화를 이야기하면서 형조의 사람들을 꾸짖게 된다. 피해를 본 원고인 부자가 오히려 형조에서 부당한 대우를 받을 뿐 아니라 소송에서 패했기 때문에 이 작품 또한 패소형이라 할 수 있다.패소형 우화소설은 피해자가 소송을 제기하여 잘못된 일을 바로잡고자 한다. 그러나 가해자는 관가의 사람을 매수하여 소송이 자신에게 유리하도록 조종한다. 이 부정한 방법으로 인하여 피해자는 소송에서 패소하여 가해자의 죄는 인정되지 않고 피해자만 벌을 받게 된다. 이는 당시 관리들의 무능과 일반 백성들의 억울한 사정을 대변한 작품으로 이해해도 무방하리라 본다.
1) 승소형 우화소설
승소형 우화소설은 소송사건에서 피해자가 자신의 억울한 누명을 벗고, 가해자가 벌을 받는 형식으로 이루어져 있다. 가해자가 거짓된 소송을 올리면 관가에서 면밀히 수사하여 사건의 진상을 규명하는 데 총력을 기울인다. 결국은 가해자가 거짓으로 올린 소송임을 알게 되면서 가해자를 벌하면서 사건이 종결된다. 그리고 피해자는 가해자의 처벌을 원하지 않을 뿐 아니라, 화합하고 용서하는 포용력을 보여줌으로써 자신의 너그러움을 드러낸다. 실제로 이 유형은 죄가 있는 가해자가 적반하장 격으로 제소하여 무고형으로 소송이 시작되는 경우가 많다. 또한 구체적인 소송의 당사자가 없을지라도 범죄가 발생하여 소송이 진행되는 경우도 있다.
